Following Christ is a Daily Action

What does it mean when a Christian follows Christ? Does it mean they got saved 20 years ago and they are automatically following Christ? Or they attend church on a weekly basis so they are following Christ?

Jesus said in Luke 9:23, “…”Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

Getting saved is the first part of being a follower of Christ and attending church is an important part too, but being a true follower of Christ is a daily part of life.

Daily laying down your plans for the Lord’s. Daily seeking The Lord. Daily obeying The Lord.

John 8:12 says, “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.””

When you aren’t following Christ daily, you end up walking in darkness. This can be a reason why a Christian faces hardships in many areas of their life. Even though they are saved, they can still be walking in darkness because they aren’t following Christ daily.

When you have the light of Christ over you, you have joy, peace, love, self-control, confidence in The Lord. You’re blessed in the many different areas of life because the light of Christ is shining on you.

But if you’re consistently walking in disobedience without repentance, consistenly not seeking The Lord, consistently doing what you want in life instead of what God wants, you start walking in darkness.

Jesus said we don’t have to walk in darkness. It’s a choice. Simply repent in Jesus name and begin afresh with a daily walk with The Lord. Then His light will shine brightly on you and you can bring glory to his name.

Be Blessed in Our Lord Jesus Christ,

Kyle
